What started as a small co-op hosted in our director’s home quickly grew into a strong community.

OUR HISTORY

Our director, Lacey Lopez, has spent more than three decades involved in music and orchestra programs, private lessons, public schools, ALE programs, co-ops, and independent homeschooling as both a parent and a teacher.

Village Learning began in 2020 as a small co-op hosted in her home. In 2023, Ms. Lacey launched a community orchestra that met in locations around Spokane. As participation grew, those spaces could no longer support the program needs.

In 2024, after learning about a unique ALE funding option, she brought her educational and musical passions together in our current location. Village Learning continues to grow, sustained by the passion, love, sweat, and dedication of the families in our community.

FROM OUR DIRECTOR

I began my own love for string instruments at 8 years old here in the Greenbluff area. I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Music (viola) from Central Washington University, where I also met my husband, Anibal (Uh-NEE-ball).

We have lived in Ellensburg, Ephrata, Yakima, Milwaukee, and Spokane, and in all these locations I have been a teacher, director, organizer, musician, and community volunteer. I have energetically embraced it all.

I love projects: finding a problem to solve, pondering on it, improving efficiency, making it more meaningful, and sharing my discoveries with others.

I have parented seven kids in homeschool, public school, alternative homeschool programs (PPP/ALE), and Running Start. I love my family, Heavenly Father, and my Savior Jesus Christ.
