We find joy in music

Community orchestra (ages 6+) focuses on joy and growth, not on producing professional musicians.

INSTRUMENT OPTIONS

We offer group instruction in orchestra for violin, viola, cello, bass, and classical/finger-pick guitar. We also have a bells class and a choir class.

DIFFERENT LEVELS

We offer 4 levels (from Starters to Advanced), so no experience is needed to begin. Ms. Lacey, our music director, helps each student choose an instrument and start at the right level. Students may move levels based on their progress, attendance, and dedication to practicing at home.

Choosing an Instrument

COMMITMENT

Learning an instrument requires time, financial investment, and patience. We encourage you to make this commitment thoughtfully and avoid starting multiple new instruments at once.

QUALITY

Students are responsible for providing a quality instrument. Please check with Ms. Lacey before purchasing or renting so she can guide you on proper sizing, quality, and pricing.

CARE

Students are expected to care for their instruments, handle size adjustments as they grow, and repair or replace any damage that occurs due to neglect.

Village Orchestra and Ms. Lacey have been a musical gift to our home in a multitude of ways. Three of my kids started violin at the very beginning of the program in 2022. My kids have exhibited growth in skill, musicianship, performance, and confidence. Music fills our home daily and they love playing!

Each kiddo having different strengths and weaknesses, Ms. Lacey recognizes them quickly and works consistently to further develop their abilities. Even with location changes and growing class sizes, the quality of education has been the highest. It’s consistent, age-appropriate, direct, and clear.

FAQs

  • Orchestra may be combined with our learning program or joined independently.

  • We typically host two recitals each year. Participation is optional but encouraged.

Recitals are open to the public with plenty of room for family and friends to help celebrate musician growth!

  • The orchestra program is free, but families provide the instrument (or pay for a rental), materials, and music.

    ALE enrollment covers these costs.

  • You should have access to Google Drive and media links, as well as willingness to use What’s App for group communication.

Students should also arrive on time with a tuned instrument, materials, and music.
